Privacy policy

Hosting

This website runs on a server rented from IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. To deliver a page, the server necessarily processes your IP address, the requested address, the time and technical details your browser sends (such as the browser type). The web server writes no access logs for pages; only downloads are logged, without your IP address (see Downloads). The hosting provider processes this data on my behalf under a data processing agreement.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest is delivering the website securely and reliably. The connection is encrypted (HTTPS).

Downloads

When you download the demo or the example project, the web server writes one line per download request to a log file: the time, the requested file, the response status, the number of bytes sent, the referring page and technical details your browser sends (such as the browser type and language). Your IP address is not stored. Every ten minutes, a script on the server sends the finished downloads from this log to Umami as events (file, version, referring page, browser and language), which then appear in the statistics described below, located at the server instead of your location. Log files are deleted after 30 days at most.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest is knowing how often the demo and the example project are downloaded and where visitors find them.

Analytics with Umami

To understand how visitors find and use this site, I use Umami Cloud, provided by Umami Software, Inc., 28 Geary St, Suite 650 #243, San Francisco, CA, USA. The account uses Umami's EU data region.

Umami does not use cookies or similar storage on your device and does not follow you across other websites. It records the pages you view, the referring website, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and the country or region derived from your IP address, plus clicks on some buttons (for example "Get it on Fab" or playing the trailer). Your IP address is only used to derive this approximate location and an anonymous visit identifier; it is not stored. The results are statistics that cannot identify you.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest is measuring the reach of the site and improving it. As Umami Software, Inc. is based in the USA, access from the USA cannot be ruled out; such transfers are covered by the safeguards in Umami's data processing agreement. You can object to this processing at any time (see Your rights); the simplest way is to block cloud.umami.is with a content blocker.

YouTube trailer

The trailer on the home page is shown as a still image from this server. Only when you press play is the video loaded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. From that moment, YouTube receives your IP address and technical data, may set cookies, and Google may transfer data to the USA (Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework).

Links to other websites

This site links to Fab (Epic Games), Discord and YouTube. No data is sent to them until you follow a link. Their own privacy policies apply on their sites. Purchases happen on Fab; this site never sees payment data.

Contact by email

If you email me, I process your address and message to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for questions about the product, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). I delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed, unless the law requires me to keep it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data I hold about you (Art. 15),
  • have it corrected (Art. 16) or deleted (Art. 17),
  • restrict its processing (Art. 18) and receive it in a portable format (Art. 20),
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21),
  • withdraw a consent at any time, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)).
